Matthew Hergert
Matt’s lending career started in 2002 after being a casualty of the .com crash of 2001 when he was a telecom engineer in Silicon Valley. Being a single father of 2 young boys he had to make a quick decision on how he was going to support them since there was no end in sight to when the technology industry would come back. He called E-Loan, the world’s first online lender, to refinance and take money out of his home and go back to school along with covering bills while in school. They declined his application due to being unemployed. He then asked the Loan Officer “are you hiring?”. They were hiring, so he applied and had a job processing within a couple of weeks. After a few years he decided to make home lending his career. He got licensed through the state of California in 2005 and branched off into brokering home loans ever since. With the experience of being an engineer and processing, he is very detailed, which helps for quick and smooth closings. He is very articulate in explaining the programs and the process. He has helped all types of clients from first-time home buyers to investors. He has experience in many types of loans, such as: VA, Conventional, FHA, USDA, Jumbo, Bridge, Non-QM and commercial loans. Prior to going to school for engineering at DeVry in Phoenix and graduation in 1991 he worked in motorcycles as a mechanic, auto body and metal fabrication. He still loves building and working on motorcycles and traveling on the bike with his wife, Sue. His boys have now grown, with one being a Marine and now training to be a fire fighter. The older son is in the restaurant business. Matt knows what hard work and perseverance is and loves helping people buy their First home or 10th. He says when he can help a first-time homebuyer purchase their first home when they never thought they could it’s an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. When his clients of many years refer their children to him that tells him how much they trust him. The greatest compliment you can give him is a referral.
